Artist's Statement (Working Progress)

This is my current Artist’s Statement, it could always use some help. Thought I would share!

Creating the images seen by the eyes and skewed by the mind. Inspired by our external world and then developed into something new. This is the work I produce. Beginning as minor sketches and later transformed into full-scale work.
Objects as minimal as vegetables spark inspiration based from their shapes. It is the changing of the colors, the textures, the environment, the total presents of those shapes, which brings a new life form forth. Thus developing a new world. The works stand on large wood panel backings and are given height through the use of 3D textures (i.e. plaster, string, newspaper). Then painted over with oils to create a final image.
In the realm of drawing and printmaking, while transforming the subject and pulling inspiration from our external world is still present, it is the development of line work, which is the most vital to me. The hard edges and scattered lines are key elements in the production of the final piece.
The goal of my work is to share the world I see through the world we know. We cannot escape into a new place without the old, however we can transform the old into the new, making it a place of comfort and interest, a place of the known and the unknown.
