Final: Timothy

This is the final sketch of Timothy. I think anyway. I have been thinking maybe I should incorporate some kind of backspace into the image. I have not yet decided how I feel about leaving the works as simple as they are. I  do enjoy how they appear as portraits of the creatures I have created.

I think having some sort of backspace would give more information on the creatures and probably help in developing some kind of narrative, if a narrative is what I want. However, by not giving that information, maybe it will lead the viewer to wonder about the creature. Maybe they will then create their own narrative about them, which could be interesting.

WIP: Next Wood Piece

Couldn't sleep last night so I got up and did this sketch. Something about the combination of plant, animal, and human elements really interest me. And I really enjoy working on the wood boards. I can see a whole wall space filled with them from top to bottom. Not sure how many I would be able to make but it could be interesting.

I haven't given this guy a name yet, but through working on him I'm sure I will figure it out. He seems a little simpler than the first two but that might change once I get the pen work going.

And They Are Hanging!

Sorry for all the extra crap in the image, I hung them up in the studio to make sure they would hang properly. I was extra stoked to see that they did hang pretty well and they seem to level, which was an added bonus. Not sure yet what I'll being doing with them but I'm happy with them!

The Hanging of Tony and Jeanette

I picked these up at Michael's Craft Store, it was only about $1.50 for a three pack.

Close up image of what a sawtooth hanger looks like. Its actually upside down in this image, but hopefully you get the idea.

I drew lines on the back of the wood pieces so I would know where to line up the hanger. The nails were kind of a pain to get in since they were so tiny, but once I got them secure it was really easy. I was worried about the wood cracking but the wood seemed pretty soft and the nails are so small they didn't cause any problems.

Final: Tony

Finished this guy yesterday and I am pretty happy with how he's turned out.

Final: Jeanette

Decided to ditch the back fabric and let it stand as it is.
