Large Figure WIP 8

Here is where I'm at now. The gap between the top and bottom is where the pieces can become unattached. I haven't yet decided what I'm going to do with that space. Most likely build up the area with trash. 

I have decided to pull in a second board to build materials on. I felt the last wrapped image was very skinny at the bottom and had hardly any weight to the piece. As of right now, I am running low on trash, so I think I will gesso everything I've go now. If I have time, I may try and wrap the form just to see how it looks as of current.

So I decided the work needed to be rebuilt. The structure was not sturdy and needed to be re-established. I ended up going to Home Depot and buying PVC piping to use in the center to hold the piece together. After that I plan to built foam board around the entire frame and then build trash around that.

I changed the under fabric. It was originally that beige color. However, awhile ago I was told that by using a flesh tone, it sexualized the work. So just to be on the safe side, I decided I'd lay the white tone fabric underneath and then over lay the other fabric.

Not sure how I feel about this yet. I'm thinking it may just be too thin. I have another closet door at home and I'm thinking about bringing that board in and building up the bottom more so that it doesn't look so thin.

As of right now this is about 7 feet tall, I don't think I'll go any taller. The bottom images are of the little braces I had to make to try and keep the top stable. I'm not sure how I feel about this. I am currently working on how I will wrap the form and see where it goes from there.

Web Mess

This is another go at attempting to put both a rendered image with the three dimensional aspect. Not completely sure how I feel about it yet, but its going. 

Materials: Great stuff, nylon, hot glue, tracing paper, oil paint

Making 3D forms

So today I took this stuff called Great Stuff. It's an insulating foam sealant. I purposely bought the big gap filler that way I could get a lot out of it. The filled a nylon stoking with it.

The bottom left image was what it looked like after I filled it with Great Stuff and had molded it some to the shape I'm looking for. It took a few minutes to harden, but as it got firm, I went bak in and reworked the form so it would look more like what I was going for. Hopefully it looks somewhat like a figure. I

I want them to be similar to the images I've been drawing however in a physical form. The form is only 10 inches in length, if that. It is firm and hard now, however, it could not hold itself up unless I added some kind of stand to it.

Anyway, I'm rather happy with it thus far, considering I had no idea what I was doing.

Sketch Work: Building The Skinny

These are just some working ideas. I was thinking what it would be like to actually build these figures out of the painting rather than have them just sit in the painting, thus they would exist in both a 2D and 3D world. However, I think they look too much like monuments right now and I don't like      that. I want them to be strong images, but I don't want them to lose the original inspiration. We'll see how it goes I guess...
