Second, KnatBoard design idea. Relatively happy with it. Not sure exactly what I'm looking for with it.

Pretty happy with this board. Happy to be back into board making too. Its a new year, I need to be productive and get some work going.

WIP: Ape KnatBoard

Started this guy sometime last week. Originally it was suppose to look like an yeti, but that quickly change and it just looks more like an Ape. Anyway, this is my first sketch at the idea.

Got the sketch on the board and working on the image. I've already finished the board, so those photos will be up soon. 

KnatBoard (test)

Drew this up today. Its just sharpie marker on wood. Not sure how I feel yet about this design, but it is a working idea for potentially branding my work. So we'll see what happens.

Final: Where?

Just moved into a new place, so I no longer have the garage to photograph my work. Now I have wooden floors, oddly enough I actually like it... 

Anyway, I am happy with this board. It is a little on the simple side, but that does not bother me. I'm thinking that once I get all 5 boards (who, where, what, when, and why) finished, they will work well together as a group.

WIP: Where?

I am pretty stoked with this board. The line work is exactly what I wanted. It just looks clean and crisp. This is what I want to go back and do to Who?

Final: Who?

Here is my final image of Who? Like I said I'm not fully happy with it. I did another board Where? (I'll share that soon), that I am happy with. I am considering going back, spray painting this board one solid color and then reworking this idea on another board with cleaner lines. 

It is not that I do not like the image or design, because I do. It is the smudge line work that is driving me insane. It just looks warn, which I what I want to change. 

WIP: Who?

Got this guy going awhile ago. I did not like the painted version of this board, so I spray painted that board and began working on this one.

The ink never fully dried so I had to make the smudge ink work with the board... Not sure how I feel about it, but I'll share the final image. 

I'm planning on doing a set of boards using Who, Where, What, When, and Why. This was the first one I attempted, however I may be changing it later.

Beginning: Untitled

This guy does not have a name yet, but I am sooooooo excited for it. I have no idea why I was thinking lion before, I love elephants, so this will be on my next board and fingers crossed on a snowboard this winter for myself :) However, knowing myself, I'll change my mind and come up with something else I think it better. But for now, I love this guy and totally stoked so begin painting it!

Just sketched this up today, hoping to either start painting this tonight or else I might just finish Brutus, we'll see. Anyway this is where I'm at right now. 

Tattoo Design

So my friend as asked me to draw up a simple dreamcatcher for him. He wants to eventually get a tattoo of one on the back side of his arm. This is just sketch one. I plan to come up with a few images for him and this is just one. 

Design Contest Sketches

So I've been sketching more ideas for a snowboard. There is a design competition I'm thinking of entering, and if I do I'm thinking of using this design... This is where I'm at so far.

I orginially was thinking of using my last name as the base design, then thought maybe I should use to company name that is holding the contest.

It's all a working progress but I'm getting somewhere :)

Snowboard Design (continued)

So I drew up a VERY rough sketch of a potential snowboard design using my Brustus drawing. I'm thinking I want a light blue background and then have Brustus in black and white.

Before actually putting this on a board I'm going to use the original skateboard I used for Timonthy (the one I went back an spray painted blue). I'm going to use that as a mock up to see how I feel about the color palette. 

Potential Snowboard Design

Started this sketch today, it is a more developed version of Brutus and so far I'm pretty happy about it. I've been thinking about getting a snowboard to paint up and I think this is the design I want. 

I'm thinking of sticking with the monochromatic coloring too. Not sure yet. I still have to figure out how it would go on a board too. The bindings are going to cover parts, so I'll need to work that into the design as well. Once I know what image I want, I'll figure out working it around/ with the bindings.

Beginning: Jeanette II

So I actually got around to doing that sketch I said I was going to do. This is Jeanette II.

With this design, I wanted to pull some kind of 1920's steampunk inspiration. The colors will be tweaked and elements will be thrown in to mix it up some.  

I have yet to decide on numbering them... I plan to have different styles of Jeanette, so I should probably some how have them titled differently, or something, but I honestly do not know right now. It feels like so much to think about when it really shouldn't. I'll figure it out eventually. But for now they will just be I, II, III, etc.

I'm also thinking I might keep the theme or styles consistent in each creature's line. So there will be all the original designs, then each design will get a "1920's Steampunk" design, and each will get another theme and so on and so forth. Keeping the boards a little different, but consistent.

Beginning: Theodore

Started this new design tonight. Pretty excited about it.

However, I am thinking of starting to brand my boards up some. I've been thinking of using some of my ceatures and developing further with them. Changing their environment, quirking them a little bit, changing things up to make them different, while keeping the hold of the original inspiration.

Just started this sketch today and I'm pretty excited about getting this one going. We'll see where she goes.

I meant to post in-progress pictures of this one, but I never did. I started it last week on my day off and ended up getting so wrapped up in it, that I finished it and never photographed its progression. So anyway, this is the final of Andrew. 

My friend, Andrew, picked the elements of this guy, which is also where he got is name from. Those elements were: A great white shark (the head), a penguin (the upper body), an otter (the legs/feet), a lily flower (the arms), and a kidney (the shoulder and purple back space thing). Obviously I did not use the same color tones for everything, just pulled inspiration.

Began this sketch today for a new board idea. The idea and elements involved were inspired by a new friend. Excited to get working on it soon and to see what happens with it!
