WIP: Rupert

These look like final photos but they aren't. I think I hate this board. I just don't like what is going on with it. I like what I did with the backspace, but with Rupert, I just don't like him at all. Thinking of just spray painting the entire board and going a totally different direction with it. Chances are that'll happen next week.

WIP: Safari Tri Portrait

It has been far too long since I posted anything, I've just been oddly busy. Anyway, these are some in progress pictures from the safari set I was working on. I'll have final photos posted soon.

WIP: Untitled

Did the sketch for this the other night and started the wings today. Sorry the images are vertical instead of horizontal. This thing won't let me rotate them and I don't have time to fix it. Anyway, super excited about where this is going!

Beginning: Untitled

This guy does not have a name yet, but I am sooooooo excited for it. I have no idea why I was thinking lion before, I love elephants, so this will be on my next board and fingers crossed on a snowboard this winter for myself :) However, knowing myself, I'll change my mind and come up with something else I think it better. But for now, I love this guy and totally stoked so begin painting it!

WIP: I Have No Clue What I Am Doing....

I have no idea what I am doing with this... I scrapped the tentacle idea, thought about countering the lion with a female lion, but her head would have been so much smaller than his. So then I thought, "Oh! I'll use another animal!" Which turned out to be a rhino, while I like the rhino, I do not think I like the board.... So this is where I'm sitting with this board and currently not going anywhere else.

WIP: New Line

I am currently thinking of starting another line of boards. Same idea with the creatures, but a little different.

For starters, I plan to paint the entire base a solid color, verses letting the wood show through like I have been. I may later switch it up and have my image of top of the deck and use clear grip tape, then use some kind of brand name as the base design, but that's a whole different story.

I am hoping the images I come up with look stronger verses these light designs I've been working with.

I will explain more once I've got an image up and working.

WIP: Alexandra

Did the rough painting last night so I know where everything will go and what not. I'm actually pretty excited about this one.

(sorry for the crappy images and glares)

WIP: Brutus 2.0

Last night I decided this was finished with this, even though I wasn't happy with it. This morning I got up and photographed it, so I could post it on my site. I got to the coffee shop and decided No. I do not like the bottom half of this and I want to change it...

I have no idea what I'll do with it yet, but I love the top half. I spent too much time working on that damn top half to just let it be "okay." So this is where I am at right now, but hopefully after so time I'll find something to do with it.

The whole board:

WIP: Brutus

Oh, I haven't forgotten about working on this guy. I'm actually a little further than what is shown in this image, but I don't have an image of it. Anyway, this is just a mock up board for what I thought I wanted to put on a snowboard, however, after working on an image for a design contest, I'm thinking of starting another line of boards.

Beginning: Alexandra

This is another board, I will eventually begin for another friend. This one will be named after her. Like the others she gave me elements and this is the image I came up with for her.

Elements:
Lion, Tiger, Owl, Heart, Brain, and Sunflower

Beginning: Jeanette II

So I actually got around to doing that sketch I said I was going to do. This is Jeanette II.

With this design, I wanted to pull some kind of 1920's steampunk inspiration. The colors will be tweaked and elements will be thrown in to mix it up some.

I have yet to decide on numbering them... I plan to have different styles of Jeanette, so I should probably some how have them titled differently, or something, but I honestly do not know right now. It feels like so much to think about when it really shouldn't. I'll figure it out eventually. But for now they will just be I, II, III, etc.

I'm also thinking I might keep the theme or styles consistent in each creature's line. So there will be all the original designs, then each design will get a "1920's Steampunk" design, and each will get another theme and so on and so forth. Keeping the boards a little different, but consistent.

WIP: Theodore

Started my next board today. Unfortunately I decided to leave this board in the trunk of my car, from driving around, it was sliding around and got a little scuffed up. I've tried getting the marks off, but nothing seems to be working. So I'm going to attempt to just paint over it. Hopefully it works.

I think this might be last "new" board I make for awhile. My sister and I were talking about my board and about keeping the creatures I already have and expanding on them. Put them in new environments, give them different styles, maybe start having them interact in someway or another.

Basically, I think I want to have a line of board designs for some of my creatures. So maybe like 5 designs for Jeanette, 5 for Theodore, 5 for Eugene, etcetera, etcetera. I'll try and sketch up some ideas tonight (or at least soon) and we will see what happens.

New Idea

So remember how I took that old Timothy board and just painted the whole board blue?

(picture in case you don't)

Well I'm thinking of starting a series of boards with the faces I use to draw. This is Doug:

This is actually a relief print I did of him, the actually drawing of him I don't have a picture of, so I'm just using this. Anyway, I went through this face of drawing all these weird alien like faces, they all had names just like the characters I have been developing, however, these guys are more human like than the ones I've been working on.

Anyway, this is just a working idea. The paint on this board is totally screwed up, Its uneven and you can just messy, so I plan to use it as a tester. So yeah... I'll keep you posted on what I end up doing with it.

WIP: Timothy Re-Do

Did not really plan on getting this far today, but I did. It was suppose to look like a cracked egg, but that didn't happen. I'm not upset with what came of it though. I'll keep the egg idea in storage for now and use it later. I actually like how it has turned out.

Next will be to put Timothy in and figure out where to put his name. I'm not even a hundred percent sold on the idea of using Timothy... maybe I'll use an only drawing or making something new... Not sure yet, I've got plenty of time though.

Oh yeah, I know I was planning on using the blue board for Timothy, originally anyway, but I changed my mind. I like having the woodgrain, I just feel like something about it needs to stay. So I've got another idea for the blue board.

WIP: Jeanette

It has been too long since my last post :/ I've been busy with random events in life. Anyway.... I have started the tentacles! This is going to take forever. I tried working on them at home, but I don't have a desk so I was hunched over trying to work on it and it was literally killing me. So I'm up at the local coffee shop today hoping that I can get pretty far with it today. Fingers crossed!
